This beautiful archaeological site stands out for being older than Chichen Itzá and larger than Tulum. Cobá translates into Spanish as "water stirred by the wind". Between the year 400 and 1100 of our era, it was one of the largest cities of the Classic Mayan period, reaching about 50 thousand inhabitants. One of the main reasons why the community developed there was the small lakes that gave water to the population.
